Much of what is built today is on such a large scale that the human element is almost totally lost. Smaller spaces can not only be cozy, but also beautiful, practical and fun to live in.
How much space do you really need to live well? How much of what you have actually enriches your life and how much of it just ties you down and requires dusting?
I hope this blog to be a travelogue, if you will, of things and ideas that inspire me to reexamine the way I think about living small and living well.

This is not a wow house. A wow house is one that you see and think, wow! Every architect hopes to build a wow house so that they will become known and hopefully get lots of offers to build more… I saw this as I was turning the pages of a magazine and only stopped a second to look at it before I continued turning the pages. But something happened. The house, like looking straight at the sun, burned its image into my mind and while I almost forgot about it, it was eating away at my unconscious. A few days later, a conversation steered its way to treading lightly and leaving a small footprint and the image of this house came rushing back.
